Wave Race makes an easy control mechanism seem challenging. You navigate a small arrow-like character through an ever-moving tunnel that contains many obstacles like spikes, gears, barriers, and narrow pathways. The character is always moving forward, and you have to rely on your ability to predict the route and move at the right time.
The character in Wave Race moves by itself all the time. The player controls the vertical motion of the character. Pressing the button will make it move up to reach the upper part of the tunnel. Releasing the button will make it move down again.
Random movements will not work for long. Make sure that you are prepared to face the upcoming obstacles. A slight change in your height will be enough for you to pass the obstacle or to navigate through the narrow path.
The level of difficulty gradually rises. Advanced levels become narrower and have even more intricate combinations of dangers. The difficulty of hard levels may sometimes get overwhelming, but don't let that discourage you. Remember that knowing the rhythm of each difficult level is part of the challenge.
Wave Race is built on the principles of precision, rather than a complex control scheme. You have to think and move fast at the same time. The longer you last, the more accurate you will have to be in controlling the rise and fall of your character.
Other modes will provide even more opportunities to prove yourself. Endless mode will require you to keep surviving as long as you can, and Race mode will allow you to compete with other characters. Short races and frequent restarts will allow you to improve your performance through every difficult tunnel.
